Trees, Roads and Walls
Boundaries have been a recurring subject in my work over many years. I use imagery relating to division and isolation to help navigate my response to prevailing political trends.
Trees, with their spreading roots and branches, are a subversive influence in the partitioned human landscape, rupturing pavements and breaking down walls, but they are also vulnerable. Painted over the time of the 2016 EU Referendum, the oak in A wider moat appears resilient, but its roots are slowly rotting.
